The AAP-OC Environmental Health and Climate Change (EHCC) Committee was formed in 2020 to address the global climate emergency. We are a group of health professionals in Orange County who understand that children’s health is uniquely vulnerable to the effects of a changing climate. We are also aware that the health of our young patients is inextricably linked to the integrity of our environment.

Seventy-five percent of Orange County residents believe global warming will significantly harm future generations,1 and we are committed to responding to this concern. We are focused on several goals, including advocating for policies that mitigate climate change, reducing the environmental footprint of our health facilities, and promoting climate education.
