Hope in Motion International

Mission

Hope In Motion International (“HIM Int’l”) was founded on the desire to help the most vulnerable in society have an opportunity to live healthy and fulfilling lives.  The founders of HIM Int’l have a deep conviction of leaving the world a better place than before. We believe in a collaborative society, where people lift and enrich the lives of others, especially those that cannot help themselves.  Instead of counting our blessings, we believe in sharing our blessings and paying our good fortune forward.

One of the founders, Kevin Baldridge, lived in Latin America when he was young before moving to California.  Many of the images he witnessed of children his age living in unfortunate conditions never left his mind.  He promised himself he would one day do something to make a difference.  Hope In Motion International was born from that promise.

Our mission is to positively impact lives by providing community health.  It’s very difficult for children to learn and reach their potential if their health needs are not met.  We channel medical knowledge, supplies, and equipment to people in Latin America that lack the resources to take care of themselves.  We purposely look for areas where there is no medical safety net and provide basic medical services and aid.

Opportunity

HIM Int’l is currently engaged with two orphanages, or “hogares,” in San Miguel de Allende, a colonial town located three hours

northwest of Mexico City.  Casa Hogar Santa Julia Don Bosco houses approximately 30 girls and Santuario Hogar Guadalupano houses 35 boys.  Ages of the children range from 2 to 18 years old.  Most of the children have either been removed from abusive households or have been orphaned.

The two hogares are run by the same Dominican order of nuns, who accept the children from the authorities or family members and provide a loving and safe environment for them to live and grow.  HIM Int’l started providing the hogares’ basic supplies and medical assistance in May of this year.  To date all donations have been made by the organization’s officers and board members.

Upcoming Trip

HIM Int’l is planning a trip to San Miguel this fall, most likely in late September or early October.  The purpose of the trip is to: 1) deliver needed household supplies, clothing and food 2) supply dental equipment to a local dentist which helps serve the two orphanages and 3) provide medical assistance directly to the children.

The medical care most needed is dentistry and optometry. Therefore, we are currently seeking dentists, optometrists, ophthalmologists, physicians, and other medical providers to accompany us on the trip.  The trip will take place over four days, leaving on a Thursday and returning Sunday.  Travel time from San Diego or Tijuana is a total of approximately 4.5 hours.

General itinerary for the trip is to spend Friday and Saturday with the children and then enjoy the culture and amenities of San Miguel at night.  San Miguel de Allende was voted the Best City in The World by Travel + Leisure in 2017.  Its restaurants, art colleges and galleries, stunning architecture and vibrant color all contribute to the charm and allure of San Miguel.

Accommodations range frombasic to elegant.  Restaurants and eateries are varied and match every palate and pocket book, from the simple and fun to culinary artistry and creative interior design.  This trip to San Miguel will leave its medical travelers fulfilled emotionally and enriched with the enchanting culture of this colonial little town.
