Climate Health Committee

The AAP-OC Environmental Health and Climate Change (EHCC) Committee was formed in 2020 to address the global climate emergency and important environmental health issues. The Committee rebranded in 2025 as the AAP OC Climate Health Committee for simplicity and the desire to focus on the greatest public health threat facing our generation, intersecting multiple areas of children’s health.

We are a group of pediatricians and pediatric allied health care professionals in Orange County who understand that the health of our young patients is inextricably linked to the integrity of our environment. Our goals are to develop educational materials for AAP OC members on the impact of climate change and environmental pollutants on child health, advocate for climate change mitigation strategies within healthcare settings, collaborate with community-based agencies to advance climate and environmental justice, and advocate for policies at the municipal, state, and federal level focused on climate initiatives and environmental health.
